Polycarbonate Roofing Profiles

Polycarbonate Roofing Profiles Introduction

Roofing profiles come in a plethora of materials, shapes and sizes.  The same goes for VULCAN polycarbonate roofing profiles.  To be clear, our polycarbonates sheets are also widely for wall cladding, facades, greenhouse skylights, window replacements, indoor partition, security glazing, and even laminated bulletproof windows.

How to Choose Polycarbonate Roofing Profiles

Choosing between corrugated or flat profiles normally depends on how the existing structure is built, and how strong the structure is.

VULCAN Polycarbonate Roofing Profiles are offered in a variety of shapes sizes and colors.  Not only can our polycarbonates sheets be used as roofing profiles, but they are also widely used for wall cladding, facades, greenhouse skylights, window replacements, indoor partition, security glazing, and even laminated bulletproof windows.

After introducing Polycarbonate Roofing Profiles, let’s look at how the profiles are split and categorized.

VULCAN Corrugated Profile Categorization

VULCAN Corrugated profiles are split into two main categories, circular and angular.

Circular corrugations such as ROMA and Mini profiles are great for areas which require indirect sunlight penetration and are most common among greenhouse applications, as the natural haze of polycarbonate plus the refractive properties of the corrugations prevent sunburn, while retaining all of the solar properties necessary to promote plant growth.

Angular profiles such as TRIMDEKGRECA, JEMPAL, PUMA, and JAGUAR are normally used on industrial or commercial applications since they are designed to match metal profiles of the same pitch and depth, and normally spaced in between.

Buildings with less internal structures, made up of curved bows and simple purlins or lightweight framing, are more suited for corrugated profiles.  Although generally less expensive to construct, the reflective and refractive properties, combined with the different corrugated angles, provide aesthetics which overall, will definitely worth more than face value.

VULCAN Solid Profile Categorization

As for VULCAN Solid Polycarbonate profiles, there is Solid Flat, and Solid Embossed profiles to choose from.

Areas with high wind, hail or snow, where building are, strength-wise, readily built with medium to strong structure, consisting of welded or bolted trusses, and normally with A-Frame type roofing, are best suited for Solid Flat or Embossed polycarbonate profiles. A-Frame type polycarbonate roofing profiles are normally slanted and positioned to provide good angles for capturing light during winter, and also less prone to drip condensation compared to a curved or arched structure.
